Salvatore Schiciano received his BFA in painting at the Cleveland Institute of Art, and his MFA from Pennsylvania State University focusing on Painting and Drawing.
His current pursuits involve the literal and metaphoric manipulation of historical references. Schiciano's paintings "The Iconic Puns" are an ever expanding body of work that exemplifies cultural icons through humorous rearrangements that project counter ideologies onto iconic historical images. His larger, more surrealistic works, investigate philosophical modes themselves as they challenge the very observations and perceptions of their viewer.
Salvatore's painting "A Brief History" was featured in Gallery XIV's 2008 exhibition: 'a politic' and appeared in Artscope magazine. He has exhibited work in Florence, Italy and in the United States, including a recent exhibition in New York City and a solo show at Gallery XIV receiving much acclaim.
