Born in 1967 in GanZi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Kangding, China, Zhou Tao mixes traditional and contemporary modes of expression with a clear and authentic vision. Holding a Master's Degree in Painting from Sichuan University's School of Art, Zhou Tao has been a Professor of Fine Art at Sichuan Nation College since 2004.
Working through a myriad of layers of Tibetan and Buddhist archetypes, history and mark making, Zhou Tao is an emerging contemporary Chinese artist with a distinct and recognizable style. He possesses a unique mastery of the painting medium and his work explores and confronts the changing Tibetan culture and the shifting Chinese landscape.
Zhou Tao is currently painting in an artist residency at Highland, a collective art space in Chengdu's south farmlands.
